Currently, the database indexes obituaries that appeared in the Elkhart Truth from 1921 to the present. New information is being added weekly to the obituary index database, so check back often.

Newspapers
Elkhart Public Library has various Elkhart newspapers on microfilm, dating back to 1859. The microfilm is available at the Reference Desk on the second floor of the Main Library.
Written Requests
For those who do not reside in the area, Elkhart Public Library staff will answer written requests on a first come, first served, as-time-permits basis.
Fees are $5.00 for every 1-3 obituary requests.
Fees include staff hours and cost of copies or scanning. We are unable to issue refunds.
Responses will be sent via email or, if requested, via the U.S. Postal Service.
Please print and complete our Genealogy Research Request Form and send it along with a check covering the required fees, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope if your response is to be via the U.S. Postal Service, to:
