Climbing Your Family Tree
Saturday, August 8, 10:00-11:30 am
Main Library, Room 1

Most of us, at some point in our lives, wonder where we came from. What starts as simple curiosity often grows into a full-fledged avocation. Climbing your family tree can be very addictive!

Join us for a presentation by Mona Gehring, Elkhart County Genealogist, Indiana Genealogical Society. Learn how to get started on your research and where to find vital records in Elkhart County. You will also have the opportunity to tour Elkhart Public Library’s Genealogy & Local History Collections.

Cookbook Corner: In a Pickle

Administrator : June 30, 2015 5:04 pm : Elkhart Public Library

CookBookNewer600It’s time to reap the benefits of your garden. Are there too many cucumbers, green beans, and tomatoes ripening at the same time? Preserve them! The books this month focus on pickling, but many of them cover all manner of preservation: canning, bottling, smoking, and curing, too. The Library also has books on freezing and drying foods grown in the garden or foraged from the wild. Pick your method(s) of preserving and enjoy the fruits (and vegetables) of your labor all winter long.
